Note: Jan 22, 1925 William Rich, former Trigg Countian, now residing in Oregon, uncle of A. M. New of Cadiz and half brother of Mrs. J. L. Ahart hears from uncle who is 92, living in Baker Oregon. Mr. Rich celebrated his 92nd birthday the second of January and is still hale and hearty and enjoys life as much as when much younger. He shaves himself, goes about the place with ease and bids fair to live a number of years longer. Mr. Rich is a brother of the mother of Mr. New and the wife, who is 82, is the sister of Mr. New's father. Mr. Rich is a native of Tennessee, but spent his early life and into manhood in Trigg Co, and during the more than 30 years he resided in Trigg, he lived between the rivers and at Canton, and is still remembered by some of our citizens. Mrs Ahart of near Golden Pond, is a half sister. He was a carpenter and for a while was in the livery business at Canton, and when a mere lad carried the mail for Milton Eggner from Eggner's Ferry to Canton for the price of a pair of shoes and board for a month. Mr Rich moved to Graves Co in about 1868 and was a liveryman at Mayfield, and also followed his trade in that section. He spent 10-15 yrs in Graves and for 40 yrs past has resided in Oregon. He followed his trade after going West and retired only a few years ago after declining years made him to feeble to live the active life required of a carpenter.
