a. Note:   Tribune-Courier, Benton, KY Ernest G. Maddox, age 96, died May 11, 1972 at his home on 1120 N. Parkway, Memphis, Tenn. Mr. Maddox taught school in Marshall County (KY) in the late 1890's. Some schools where he taught are New Harmony, Minter and Clark. Later he was affiliated with the E. B. Furgerson Co., as salesman for International Harvester Co. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Coral Warren Maddox, two sons: Warren and William Maddox of Memphis, and two granddaughters: Julia Coral Maddox and Katherine Maddox. Funeral services were held in Memphis on May 13, 1972.

  E. G. Maddox, Sales Manager Ernest Greenwood Maddox, 96, who was city sales manager for Memphis Furniture Manufacturing Co. for many years before retirement in 1952, died at 8 last night at his home, 1120 N. Parkway, where he had lived since 1921. He and his wife Mrs. Coral Warren Maddox, were married in Denver in 1911 and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last year. He was the father of Warren Maddox, district manager for Social Security Administration and Lt. Col. (retired) William H. Maddox also of Memphis. He was a lifetime elder in Lindenwood Christian Church. Mr. Maddox taught himself shorthand and had translated most of the Bible into shorthand. He sometimes wrote a business letter in shorthand and gave it to his secretary to work from rather than dictating it, in a spirit of fun.

Maddox, 96, of 1120 North Parkway, father of Warren Maddox, Social Security columnist for the Commercial Appeal, and retired city sales manager for Memphis Furniture Manufacturing Co., died at 8 p.m. Thursday at his home. Services will be at 11:30 am today at Memphis Funeral Home on Union with burial in Forest Hill. He was a life elder at Lindenwood Christian Church. He also leaves his wife of 61 years, Mrs. Coral Warren Maddox; another son, William H. Maddox of Memphis; a brother, Harry Maddox of Jackson, Miss.; a sister, Mrs. S. D. Yongue of Breaux Bridge, La., and two granddaughters.
