a. Note:   Information taken from Marcia G. (Roth) Cook - granddaughter to Amelia (Emelie): Amelia's mother died in 1866, Germany and her father remarried several years later to a woman that Amelia did not get along with. Amelia went to live with her eldest brother until 1874 where she booked passage to America from the money that she had saved/earned. Amelia's oldest sister, Rosanne, already lived in the US, manufacturing face cream. Amelia lived with Rosanne in Philadelphia until she got a job as a domestic servant. She remained with the family when they relocated to Cincinatti.
