Notes
a. Note:   Albin Heald, Abbion, Alvin Heild or Hale SR. b.c. 1778, d. 22 Sept 1842, family records tell that Albin was born and lived most of life near Salem Twp. Clarion Co. PA, married date unknown, Ann or Anna Jenkins, b.c. 1783, PA, d. 22 Apr. 1865, unknown place. She lived with her son, Albin Jr. is listed in the 1850 Richland Twp. Clarion Co. PA, as age 67 yrs old. The place of her death is unknown, by 1854, her son, had moved from Clarion Co. to live in the Borough of Hydetown, located three miles from Titusville, Crawford Co. PA.
Before the organization of Clarion Co. PA, in 1839 from Venango Co. PA, Richland Two/ formed a part of Salem Twp, Venango Co. PA. in which they Healds lived. This area was formed in 1856 from Richland and Beaver Twp. Due to the overlapping of the townships in the different counties they county seat of Franklin, Venango Co. and Clarion, Clarion Co. PA. had to be researched. The search took place in May of 1987. No probate records or land records were found for an Albin Heald, there were Heald and Hale but no Albin Heald with the various spellings. He may have lived in the area but never owned own land and therefore there would not be any records. A third search of the local newspapers yielding no data.
A Albin Heald or Hale was listed the 1840 census of Rockland Twp. Venango Co. PA.
Albin Hale, 01 male 50-60 yrs old, 01 male 20-30 yrs old, 02 male 10-15 yrs old,
01 fem. 40-50 yrs old, 01 fem. 15-20 yrs old,
There was also Samuel Hale listed in the 1840 Rockland Twp. Venango Co. PA
01 male 20-39 yrs old, 01 female, 05-10 yrs old
After recently seeing the message from David Miller at Family History.com about Albin Heald living in Philipsburg, PA, I spent some time at the genealogy library in Centre County I found the following in the Centre County Tax Assessments for Patton Township
 1822 Hale, Abbion 200 acres, I cow
 1823 Heail, Alven 150 acres, I horse, I cow
 1824 Hail, Alven 150 acres, I horse, I cow
 1825 Hail, Alven 150 acres, I horse, I cow
1826 Heald, Abban 200 acres, 1 horse, 2 cows, Taylor*
1827 Heald, Abban "gone to Phillipsburge and to be cows returned to Able Bintash (last name was not legible) Taylor"
*This had an assessment so I presume it was taylor equipment Occupations were not listed elsewhere in the Assessment.
There were few entries for this township so I presume this is the same individual from 1822 to 1826/7 There were no entries close to his name prior to 1822 or after 1827
They have no tax records for Rush Township (Philipsburg) prior to 1840. I was not able to find Ann Jenkins although there were Jenkins families in the area There was a David Jenkins who married Ann Zane in 1790. There was another line David/John/David (revolutionary war commanderfRobert (iron business and member of congress 1807-1811) I could not find a child by the name of Ann in Centre County at the proper time.
Albin Heald is listed in the Spangler Notebook vol 120, page 58, in a listing of families with school age children "Albin Heald, taylor, a poor man indeed, with a helpless family" Children were not listed Wish I could have found something more positive!
Checking the US census there is an Alben Heald listed in 1830, Rush Township, PA There a two male children age 10-15 and one male 40 to 50 Of interest there is a Samuel Heald also in Rush Township age 20 to 30 I believe I also found a Samuel Heald in a later census in Clarion County but I cannot find that reference Of interest, no females were listed with either entry I do recall seeing an Ann Heald in Clearfield County at about the same time (I found this in an online census) Clearfield county borders Centre County at Philipsburg and I wonder if this could be A1bin's wife, perhaps living apart from Albin? Could find nothing more.
After talking with the librarian at Centre County, I learned that most people migrating there in the early 1800s came from the Philadelphia, Bucks County, and Chester County areas Many migrated to Venango County from Centre County Very few migrated from New York! New England area to Centre County I am thus going to search in those PA areas for more information Will let you know if I find anything. From:<JAIRHE@@aol corn> Saturday, February 19, 2000
