Box 549, Clendenin, WV 25045 George Thomas Kittner, 88, of Clendenin, died Thursday, July 30, 2009 at CAMC General Hospital in Charleston after a courageous battle with ill health. He was born in May 23, 1921 in Warren PA, the son of the late Audley Burdette and Margaret Elizabeth (Watt) Kittner. George was retired from the Elk Refinery after 38 years of service. He worked in various unit operations and management positions. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clendenin where he served on the Deacon Board and was a former secretary and treasurer of the Clendenin Lyons Club. George was an avid fisherman and loved outdoor activities such as, camping, boating and gardening. He had great compassion and love for his family and those in need. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his grandson, Charles Kevin Marion Green, infant brother, Harold Edward Kittner, and sister, Janet Marie Kittner. George is survived by his wife of 693/4 years, Lena Beatrice (Oliver) Kittner. They were married on September 17, 1939 and were looking forward to celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary. Other survivors include his daughter, Patricia Ann Green and husband Charles ?Skip? of Beckley; sisters, Margie Reyes and husband Santos of Lakeworth, FL, Alice Belz of Vidor, TX, Ester Hackett of Lewistown, PA, Blanche Vinson of Campbell, MO; brothers, Charles Kittner and wife Louise of Sutton, WV, Robert Kittner and wife Rita of Orange, TX, David Kittner of Louisville, KY. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, August 2, 2009 at Matics Funeral Home in Clendenin with Pastor Ron Burnsworth officiating. Burial will be at Oliver Cemetery in Clendenin.
