Graveside services for Clarence S. Poston, 84, of 149 Prospect St., Oak View, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura, with the Rev. Harry Newman officiating.
Mr. Poston died Tuesday in a nursing home after a long illness. He was born April 6, 1892, in Kentucky. A 46-year Ventura County resident, he was a retired employe of the Ojai Valley Cleaners.
He is survived by sons Carroll M. Poston Sr., Arthur L. Poston and Clarence D. Poston, all of Oak View, and three grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Clausen Funeral Home, Ojai, until noon Thursday.
Burial Location researched, found and photographed by Virginia Winn Parker <Winnsrchr1@@aol.com> in Oxnard, Ventura County, CA. Both your people (Clarence Shelton Poston and Ella Navis Goodman Poston) are located on opposite side of one of the buildings (#3) just across the road. They are right beside the road, both in Section H (Lot 260, grave 12 for Clarence) (Lot 261 grave 12 for Ella). Very easy to find. Lot # was 260 on Clarence's stone and 261 on Wife's (Ella) stone. They are not side by side but as you can see are different lots but adjacent to each other. They are in line together with one row separating them.

Grandpa (Stephen Douglas Poston) sent Uncle Clarence money 2 or 3 times to come back home and they spent the money for something else instead. Uncle Clarence wanted to come back home to live in KY but Aunt Ella didn't want to come to KY. Finally Grandpa sent them train tickets to come back to KY. (I remember Mama telling us this also.) Uncle Clarence's family came back and stayed here abt 18 months living in Louisville. While here, Uncle Shoudy and Uncle Clarence painted houses and did odd jobs in Louisville; and Grandpa helped them financially a lot too. Aunt Ella was very unhappy living in KY and wanted to go back to CA. So, Uncle Clarence bought (Eloise thought it was a Ford Touring Car) a Ford touring car (picture is on the website with Uncle Clarence's family in it and Carroll crying on the hood/fender). Uncle Shoudy's family was returning to Kansas to live and Uncle Clarence's family was returning to CA to live--the two families were traveling together. Eloise thought they left KY around July 4, 1927 and stopped along the road here and there to work to earn food and gas money to travel on west. Well, they got to the Sangamon River area in Petersburg, Menard Co, IL on April 23, 1928 (as Apr 23, 1928 is when Helen drowned according to records)--that's a long time to travel from KY to IL from July to April. Helen's death certificate says "accidental drowning in Sangamon River few minutes". Helen's age was given on the death cert as 5 yrs, 8 mo, 5 days and birth as Sept 18, 1922; Helen's birth is Sept 18, 1921 given on her birth cert.
