The tax list date is indefinite and is thought to be between 1836 & 1838. The exact date for this tax list has not been established. 1840 Census of Hart County, Ky. -- Stephen Goodman listed; No TWP listed page # 191 1850 Census of Hart County, KY. -- Stephen Goodman listed; No TWP listed Page # 171 1850 In the Hart County Census both of Stephen & Elizabeth Goodman's children are listed as being born in Tennessee. Robert was born circa 1833; Elizabeth was born in 1837. 1807 It is doubtful the the Stephen Goodman who married an Elizabeth Jones in Hardin County, KY in 1807 is our Stephen Goodman (or if it is , then this is probably a different wife because Elizabeth was supposedly born about 1800 and would have only been 7 years old at the time of marriage). Another reason is that his wife was known by the name of Elizabeth Searcy. Stephen Goodman is not listed in the Grayson County Census records for the following years: 1810-1840, 1850, 1860, nor 1870. Neither is he listed for the years of 1815, 1825, nor 1834 in the Grayson County, Ky. tax lists. July 8, 1994 gfb Marriage Bond for Stephen Goodman and Elizabeth Jones: Know all men by these presents that we Stephen Goodman and Edward Fowler are _____ (?hereto) and firmly bound unto his Excellency Christopher Greenup Esquire, Govenor of Kentucky and his successors, in the just and full sum of 50 pounds United States Currency which payment will and truly to be made. We bind ourselves and our heirs and assigns and each of them severally jointly and firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and dated this 29th day of Sept. 1807. The condition of the above obligation is such that if there should be no legal cause to obstruct a marriage shortly to be solemnized between the above named Stephen Goodman and wife Elizabeth Jones for which a license was this day issued then this obligation to be void, else to remain in full force and virtue.
