Notes
a. Note:   Shouda Virgil Poston used the name "Harrison" when he deserted the Army and lived in Kansas. From Ernest on down through Clarence (six oldest children of Shouda Virgil and Mae Howdyshell), the children were all born as Harrison Children. Clarence Virgil and James Doug Poston went to court and had their names legally changed to "Poston" but the rest of the children didn't. They just used the name "Poston". Irene Holthouser Poston, Clarence Virgil's wife, said they bought some property one time and had a lawyer checking on it and the attorney ran into a block when he discovered the different names and so he advised Clarence Virgil to change his name legally. Clarence Virgil told James Douglas and they had their names changed legally. Opal, Douglas' wife got scared and was afraid she wasn't married legally. The lawyer said she was just as married as she could ever be. (This paragraph is copied from Irene Holthouser Poston's, Clarence Virgil Poston's wife, letter to Edith Bastin dated 12 May 1998.) The five younger children were born under the name "Poston" after Clarence Virgil and wife, Mae, came back to Louisville, Ky. (This paragraph is copied from Irene Holthouser Poston's, Clarence Virgil Poston's wife, letter to Edith Bastin dated 12 May 1998.)
