a. Note:   Thomas likely came to the United States from England with Reverend Richard Mather of Bristol aboard a vessel by the name of "James". It is unknown where he lived in England or for how long, but it is possible that he was actually from Germany. Perhaps he came to England for more liberal religious environment and found upon his arrival that the sought for tolerance was nonexistent. He then went on to the United States. He was a tailor and cultivated a farm. He had a homestead in Dorchester and had another parcel in Boston Neck. Both properties are located within Boston, Mass.
