1914 Minneapolis Tribune: “ Mrs. Virginia Chapin of Queen avenue south entertained Monday at a dinner party in honor of Miss Florence Louise McCray and Mr. William E. Brewster, whose marriage is to take place Saturday at the home of the bride on Essex street southeast.
Miss Laura Maud Edwards also shared the honors with the young people. Miss Edwards will leave this evening to make her home in Los Angeles with her sister, Mrs. Flora Fargo. The table appointments were in pink and white, with a bowl of pink roses as a centerpiece.” Sept 30 1914
Florence attended secretarial school and worked as a secretary while she and William lived in Staten Island, NY. During this time their first child was still born.
In 1920 when Florence was pregnant with Nancy she and William moved to Niagara Falls where William took a job with a battery firm. Nancy and William McCray were born there. After 3 years they moved to Cleveland, OH, where William took a job with the Christian Science Monitor. Theodore Edwards was born soon after the move to Ohio.
After the children were grown Florence worked as a secretary at Fort Sheridan, Ill. and the building and grounds department of Wellesley College, in Massachusetts.
Florence was an adept party hostess, and an excellent cook. She and Billy enjoyed playing bridge and golf, and Florence was an avid Boston Red Socks fan. Throughout her life she kept up an active correspondence with many friends and relatives. She was also a accomplished pianist, and accompanied her son Eddie when he auditioned for the Oberlin conservatory.
In 1973 her home was broken into by thieves and she was thrown down her basement stairs. She injured her knee and remained in the basement overnight. In the morning she was able to crawl up and out of the house where neighbors found her. The thieves stole the family silverware but did not find her money. Florence then moved to Alliance Ohio and lived with her daughter Nancy. The silverware was eventually recovered and returned to the family.
Florence was quiet, ladylike, intellectual, and highly intelligent. One of the last things she did was to read all of Proust.
She died in 1979 in a nursing home in Alliance, Ohio.
1904- St Paul Globe, April 03: “Some of the pupils of Miss Furber and
a few of the younger pupils of Miss Nellie A. Hope gave a recital Thursday afternoon In their studios in the Chamber of Commerce building. The children presented an Interesting: programme in a most satisfactory manner. Dorothy Holmes displayed not only musical skill but surprising musical memory in the presentation, without notes, of a group of piano numbers which prefaced the programme. A class of ten went through the musical kindergarten exercises. Other pupils who took part were Helen Forest, Laura Griffith, Warren Lennon. 1920 Feb 4 - Minneapolis Tribune - “Mr. and Mrs. William E. Bogert, 1606 Mount Curve avenue, entertained at an informal dinner last evening in compliment to Mr. and Mrs. William Edwards Brewster of Niagara Falls, N.Y. Mr Brewster arrived Sunday and joined Mrs. Brewster at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Brewster, 717 Kenwood Parkway. Mr. and Mrs. Brewster expect to return home tomorrow.”

Florence Louise Brewster died in 1979 and was buried in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, Middlesex, Massachusetts.
