  “While researching my La Crosse Boardman clan, I came across a pre-1907 Wisconsin Marriage Record (Vol. 5, Page 386, #354, on file La Crosse County Register of Deeds, 400 N 4th St. La Crosse, WI): Edgar N Boardman b. Fond-du-Lac WI, son of Alonzo H Boardman and Nancy T. Burges. married Christina A. Rose, of Eau Claire, WI., dau of John Rose and Rebecca, m. 9 Nov 1886 in La Crosse, La Crosse County.”
  1860 Census - Edgar A Boardman (1/12) living in Fond-du-Lac, WI, with parents A H Boardman (34), an insurance agent, Nancy T (30), and siblings Frank B (9), Flora A (2). There is also a woman, Fidelia (24) Boardman, a milliner, but her relationship isn’t recorded. She may be A H’s sister as they are both born in PA. Nancy born in Maine.
  1870 Census - Edgar (10) is living in the village of Neenah, Winnebago Co., WI, with his parents and siblings. His father, A H (44) is listed as a R R agent. Living with them is John S Boardman (27), his wife .....(36) and son Willie (5). John is R R clerk, and probably A H’s brother.
  1880 - Edgar (20) is still in Neenah living with his widowed mother Nancy (49), sister Della and her husband. Edgar is working at the Depot.
  1900 Census - Edgar (40) is living in a boarding house Jefferson Twp, Fayette Co., IA, listed as widowed having been married 9 years. His occupation is publisher of City Directory. Either he married abt 1891 to an unknown woman between his marriage to Anna and his marriage to Susan abt 1904, or this refers to his marriage to Anna, who was still living. They both refered to themselves as widowed.
  1910 - Census Edgar (50) is living in Davenport, Scott Co., IA, married 6 years to Susan (48). His stepson, James A Shafer (19) and son Philip D (5) are in the home. Edgar is a publisher, his stepson a draftsman.
  1920 - Census Edgar (59) is still in Davenport living with Susan and his son Philip (14). Edgar is reported as an accountant for a construction company, his wife a dressmaker.
  1930 - Census - Edgar A Boardman (69), Susan M Boardman (68) are living in Davenport, Scott, Iowa, at 325 Kirkwood Blvd. Edgar, b. in Wisconsin, is a contractor in the street signs business. His father b. in Maine, mother b. PA. They own their home valued at $7,000. They were 43 and 42 years old respectively at the time of their marriage.
  1940 Census - Edgar A Boardman (79) and Sine (Susan) M Boardman (78) are still living at 325 Kirkwood Blvd in Davenport, Scott, Iowa. With them is their son Philip D Boardman (34). Edgar completed the 8th grade, his wife completed 4 years of HS, Philip completed 2 years of college. Philip is single, and is a mechanical drafsman for an arsenal. No occupation is recorded for Edgar and Susan, and they are reported to have no income.
