  MRS. BREWSTER, CITY TEACHER 34 YEARS, DIED
  Mrs. Marie Voy Brewster, widely known and loved teacher in the Chicago public schools for 34 years, died yesterday in Ingalls Memorial hospital, Harvey. Mrs. Brewster, who was 66, retired last year as principal of South Shore High school. She lived at Dun Donald lane and Western ave., Flossmoor.
  Mrs. Brewster was born in Scotland S.D., and taught in schools in Iowa and other states before coming to Chicago in 1914. Later that year she passed the Chicago public school teachers' examination and taught in grade schools for 10 years - in Dewey, Oakland and Farren.
  BROUGHT CANDY
  At Oakland, she recalled in a reminiscent article written at her retirement, a third grade boy showed up one day with a box of candy for her.
  "Charles," she told him, "you shouldn't have bothered to bring me candy."
  "O, that's all right," she quoted him as replying, "my father has two drug stores and a candy factory." He was Charles R. Walgreen, now head of the nationwide chain of drug stores.
  Mrs. Brewster became assistant principal at Phillips Junior High school in 1924 and principal of the Sullivan grade school in 1930. She moved up successively as assistant principal of Calumet High school, principal of the Bryn Mawr school, principal of McKinley High school, and became principal of the new South Shore High school in 1940.
  PRAISED BY HUNT
  When she retired in January 1949, Supt. Herold C. Hunt praised "her vision, understanding, and keen sensitiveness."
  The assembly hall at South Shore was named in Mrs. Brewster's honor.
  In recent years she lived in Flossmoor with her husband Otis P. Brewster, a management engineer, and their son, Ogden, both of who survive.
  Services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday in Flossmoor Community Church.
