Notes
a. Note:   N4 Nancy was highly intelligent, an avid gardener, talented artist; she drew and sculpted in her teens but gave it up in her 20’s. SHe met Fritz while working as a draftsman at Babcock and Wilcox in Barberton, Ohio, where she drew plans for Navy battleships during World War II. The first 12 or so years of their marriage they lived in Barberton, at 89 Yonker street, a small two story, two bedroom frame house on a double lot. The previous owner had been a professional gardener and had planted several cherry trees, an apricot tree, a peach tree, and apple tree, and a grape arbor, which, by the time Nancy and Fritz bought the place, were mature and fruiting. Nancy planted her own small garden, and many flowers around the yard. Not long before the move to Alliance she planted several small nut trees, which she transplanted to the Alliance property. Fifty years later these nut trees were large and thriving.
They moved to an old farmhouse 3 miles south of Alliance Ohio in the summer of 1956. Obtained a teaching certificate at Mount Union College in Alliance. Taught Geometry in the Canton High schools for 8 years.
Moved to 110 Croswell Rd, Columbus Ohio in 1981. Shortly after the move Fritz died. Nancy continued to garden and enjoyed her granddaughters.
Smoked from the age of 14 until a few months before her death at age 87 of lung cancer. Blind the last 7 years due to macular degeneration. Was able to live at her home at 110 Croswell Rd Columbus Ohio until 4 days before her death due to the devoted care of her son Willy and his wife Monica Custis who lived close by.
