1920 Census Mary J Edwards (65), widow, is living in Minneapolis, MN, as a roomer in the home of Emma E Anderson (55). Mary Edwards has no occupation. There are two other roomers in the home.
Aug 30 1920 - Minneapolis Tribune article gives 78 Willow Street as the address of Mary J Edwards, announcing the visit of her daughter Mary Edwards of Washington, D.C.
1930-Census living with her daughter Marjorie Blake in Whittier CA, and sometimes with her brother David Starr Jordan (age 79) in Palo Alto, CA with a nurse/servant
1940 Census - Flora Bailey (59), b. Illinois, divorced, is living in Montgomery, Maryland, as a lodger in the home of John Stanley Hodges (43). At the top of the entry for this home is written "The following persons were enumerated in Falkland Manor Guest Home"

"Before the Civil War, the general area that would become Takoma Park was increasingly developed as small farms and country estates. One of the most notable of these was the Silver Spring farm of Francis Preston Blair, a member of the “Kitchen Cabinet” of President Andrew Jackson. He came to Washington from Kentucky in 1830 as editor of the Globe, a pro-Jackson newspaper. Blair made his home at 1651 Pennsylvania Avenue across from the White House, and in 1835 acquired a large country property located near the Silver Spring. With later additions, this was known as Falkland Manor. It included part of the Girles Portion and other originally Carroll lands, extending into what is today Takoma Park, MD, and Takoma, DC. "

“Mary Maty, a very intelligent and handsome girl three years younger than I, was the third woman to enter Cornell University. There she became engaged to Edward Junius Edwards, a former fellow student at Lombard University, where I taught for a year after graduating from college. Minneapolis has long been her home. For some years before his death in 1915, her husband interested himself in genealogy, and during the process of working out his children's ancestry, half of which was also mine, he brought to light many unknown or forgotten details of family origin and connections. Mrs. Edwards is the mother of six, Arthur (Stanford, 1900), Paul, Junius, Flora (Mrs. Bailey), Marjorie (Mrs. Blake), and Mary Edwards. “
“Leaving At the end of the year the trustees, being short of Lombard money and none too appreciative, left me no ac- ceptable alternative save to resign — which I did not unwillingly. They were, however, taken aback by the fact that nearly all the advanced students then expressed their intention of going to Cornell. Among those who actually did go were Edward Junius Edwards, entomologist, whom Mary after- ward married, and Belle Sherman, who graduated at Cornell and remained in Ithaca for forty years as science teacher in the high school. “
