Note: 5 (Castle Garden) and emmigrated to New Washington, Ohio and farmed there. John changed jobs to work on the Miami-Erie canal (as related by relation Anne Whiteman). While working, he saw that Putnam county (just south of Lucas county) was inviting people to settle there - renaming fledgling towns German-sounding names, such as Ottoville (as in Otto von Bismark) to attract immigrants (mostly German). John and his wife, Mary BEDINK, moved to Ottoville in Putnam county and changed, for reasons unknown, his surname to EBERLE.
