Note: pson Jr., Elzo Lawrence Thompson Jr., 73, of Georgetown, died at 9:07 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, at his residence. A celebration of his life will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at Pape Memorial Home and Cremation Gardens, 10 E. Williams St., Danville, IL 61832 with Pastor Farris officiating. A family gathering and visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12 at Pape’s. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Elzo “Jr” Thompson was born Jan. 12, 1934, to Elzo Lawrence and Anna Lucille Fleener Thompson Sr. He attended Danville High School and later received his GED. He worked as a meat cutter at William Davies Meat Packing, as a welder for Esco Corporation and later retired from Colonial Brick in Indiana as a maintenance man. “Jr” was a member of the AARP and NHRA and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family. “Jr” married Phyllis Ann Ervin on May 19, 1953, in Danville. She survives. Also surviving: two daughters, Connie (Edward) Allen and Penny (Gary) Snyder; two sons, Larry (Paula) Thompson and Jeffery (Rhonda) Thompson; three brothers, Raymond (Shirley) Thompson, William Thompson and John Thompson; one sister, Mary (Don) Tibbs; and five grandchildren, Stacy Allen, Elizabeth Thompson, Emily Thompson, Clay Thompson and JenVive Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert Thompson and Thomas Thompson; and two sisters, Sarah and Shirley. Guest register: www.papemortuary.com.
