Continued: Scott A. Thompson listed his age as 34; Della listed her age as 36 atthe time of their marriage. The marriage was performed by FrederickDouglas, Minister of the Gospel. Fred Dinellis, County Clerk, servedas their witness. Della fell on 25 Jul 1963 apparently while visiting her step-sonAlfred Thompson in Toledo, OH and fractured her left hip. During theweek after her fall, she was hospitalized. Della died at 12:45 PMwhile a patient in the Maumee Valley Hospital, 514 Oakwood Ave., inToledo. Related symptoms included Inspissated Bronchial Mucus Plugsand Pulmonary Edema. Susie Lee Williams Morton, Velva's mother,informed Velva of Della's death in a letter dated 6 Sep 1963, afterDella was buried. Susie Lee stated in her letter to Velva dated 29Oct 1963 that it was kind of Scott Thompson's family to take care ofDella as they were not her children. Della had lived with her stepchildren during the eleven months prior to her illness. Della was 81at the time of her death and not eligible for Social Security. Della's step son Alfred did not know the names of Della's parents.Della is buried in Forest Cemetery, which is the same cemetery whereVelva's brother Tallie Ford Morton and Theodore's wife Louise areburied. The Clifford Brown Funeral Home, 919 Grand Ave., Toledo, Ohio handled Della's funeral and burial services. A response receivedfrom Forest Cemetery on 13 May 2000 did not state whether Della'sgrave has a headstone as requested..
