Continued: Calvin served in World War II. After completing military service,Calvin settled in Muskegon in 1945. Calvin later worked for Campbell,Wyant, and Cannon as a supervisor prior to his retirement in Aug of1980. Calvin was said to draw blood from turnips and was nicknamed"Kitty" and "Tit Boy". Calvin married Geraldine Hadley and later retired. Geraldinecontinued her employment in dry cleaning but has now retired and isvery active in her church.. Calvin united with the Holy Trinity Church of God In Christ on 7 Jan1979 and was a past member of the Masonic Temple Order of Masons. Calvin died at 11:25 AM as an inpatient at Muskegon General Hospital.The immediate cause of death was Respiratory Failure; Carcinoma ofthe Lung (3 years). Calvin was listed as a laborer employed byC.W.C., Textron Division. He and Geraldine lived at 886 E. HackleyAve. in Muskegon Hgts. at the time of his death. Reynolds MemorialChapel handled his services. Calvin's funeral service was held on 6 Sep 1986 at Holy Trinity Churchof God In Christ, 2140 Valley St., Muskegon, MI. Bishop NathanielWyoming Wells, Jr. officiated and eulogized Calvin; the obituary wasread by Sis. A. Grissom as follows: Mr. Calvin Morton, age 63, departed this life Tuesday, September 2,1986 after a brief illness. He was born July 15, 1923 in Blytheville,Arkansas. Mr. Morton was educated in Blytheville Public Schools andattended ROTC Engineering Training School. Calvin Morton was a WWII Veteran and moved to Muskegon following hisdischarge from the US Army in 1945. He was employed with Campbell,Wyant, & Cannon as a Supervisor prior to his retirement in August of1980. Mr. Morton united with the Holy Trinity Church of God In Christon Jan 7, 1979 under the pastorate of Bishop Nathaniel Wells, Jr., andwas a past member of the Masonic Temple Order of Masons. Calvin Morton leaves to cherish is memories a loving and devoted wife,Geraldine Morton, four daughters; Mrs. Gerri Ann Williams and Mrs.Edith Huntington both of Muskegon, Mrs. Brenda Coleman of Las Vegas,Nevada, and Mrs. Frankie Harvey of Amory, Miss.(step-dtr), two sons;Mr. Calvin Morton II of Muskegon Heights and Mr. Eric Watson ofMarquette, MI., four (two) sisters; Mrs. Princess James of MuskegonHeights, Mrs. Richard (Frances) Alston of Maywood, Ill, Mrs. LunaMorton (sister-in-law) of St. Louis, MO., and Mrs. Martha Morton(sister-in-law) of Toledo, Ohio, a devoted niece; Mrs. Theo (Juanita)Jones, and a host of other nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Thord Morton, twosisters; Mrs. Velva Hudson and Mrs. Verna Mason, four brothers; Frank,Theodore, Dewitt, and Tallie Morton.
