a. Note:   ! There was a Georgia Passport for travel through the Creek Nation approved October 21 1809 and we presume that this was for this John Hairston. You will note that we have two[2] sons named Robert, we are not sure this is correct, but we presume that there were sons Robert and Samuel that went into Tennessee. Information received by Vic Hairston 2001 from National Archives regarding war service of John Herston of Edgefield County South Carolina : 'War of 1812 , Youngbllod's regiment, South Carolina Militia, John Herston , Private, on Company Muster Roll from December 10, 1813 to Janueary 10, 1814. Noted that he enlisted for 3 months. Company Payroll December 10, 1813 to January 10, 1814 paid for one month's service, 8 dollars plus 53 and 1/3 cents for 2 days to travel 40 miles from home to Company rendezvous at Edgefield.. On Company Muster Rolls for January 10, 1814 to March 15, 1814. Enlisted for 3 months. Company pay roll January 10 to March 15, 1814 , paid for 2 months and 5 days at 8 dollars a day for total of 20 dollars and 26 cents. [2 X $8 + 17.67% of $8 + $2.93 for travel = $20.26] . Remarks reflects $2.93 from place of discharge to Company rendezvous 175 miles .
