a. Note:   ! It has been pretty well accepted that Andrew was the oldest son of Peter 'the immigrant' Hairston . It is my opinion that the order of the other 3 sons were : Samuel , Peter and Robert , there is no documentation for this ranking, but the land deed records seem to indicate that Robert shows up at a later date than the rest of the sons, namely around 1755 . A side note , of the 4 brothers the only 2 who from the records appear to have been able to write were Robert and Sanuel , the others simply marked their documents with an 'X' . Vic Hairston of 1997 research, states that he found a 'John Herston' listed as a juror in Albemarle County Virginia in 1747 and wondered if perhaps he was a son of Andrew Hairston ? Assuming Andrew , at the very least, married in 1736, this hardly could have been a son on jury duty . More plausible would be that he was a brother to Peter'the immigrant' Hairston
