a. Note:   1. In the 1880 Nicholas co., WV census he was enumerted, along with his mother, with Henry and Paulina (Campbell) McCutchen: Liddia A., 21 years and Alva Jennings, 3 mos. 2. Alva Jennings ran away from home when 16 years old; he ran because he believed that he had killed his step-father. He changed his name to Albert Jennings for a few years, then went back to Alva and used "Jesse" as a middle name. 3. According to his daughters, Hazel, Margaret and Alma, the name "Jen- nings" popped up from time to time of safety deposit boxes, etc. 4. He was 65y 0m 22d when he died; heart disease.
