Note: 1. "Service held for Lilas McLean Funeral services for Lilas Marie McLean were held at the Kirk Baptist Church on Friday, April 25 at 1:30 p.m. with Bro. Dwight Sefcovic offi- ciating. Interment was in the Kirk Cemetery. Lilas Marie Gleaves, oldest child of Charles and Fannie Gleaves, was born Sept. 28, 1893 at Guilford, Mo. and passed away at the Loveland Good Samaritan Retirement Village at the age of 81 years, six months and 23 days. She moved with her family to Colorado in the fall of 1905. The family homesteaded land and built a home one-half mile south of Kirk. She was united in marriage to Tyson McLean on April 26, 1913 in Denver. In March of 1914 they moved to the farm three miles south and three-quarters of a mile west of Kirk and made their home there until they moved into Kirk in 1971. To this union were born three children. She was preceded in death by her husband and by her son, Chester, who gave his life in the service of his country in 1945, also by two brothers and a sister. Survivors include her daughter and husband, Opal and Alfred Gurse of Kirk; her son and wife, John and Hazel McLean of Greeley; six grand- children and three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Mildred Dodd of Nevada, Ia.; and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Maggie Shively of Kirk and Mrs. Margaret Gleaves of Portland, Ore. In 1921 she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and became a member of the Kirk Baptist Church.
