Note: SOURCES INCLUDE: 1. Copied from the 1985 History of Nicholas County, WV: "Okey Johnson Foster was born January 27, 1885 at Gad. He was the son of Sarah Martha Foster who was born May 5, 1853, the daughter of Andrew Beirne Foster and Edna Manser Campbell. He married Mary Everette Simms on Feb. 14 1906. She was the daughter of Johnny Everette Simms and Mary Molly Brock. Okey was a farmer and woodsman. Most of their life was spent on their farm at Gad where they raised three sons and two daughters: Jennie Pearl Foster Gray, Dennis Herndon, Marmie Glen, Flora Glenna Foster Backus and Okey June Foster. Okey J. and Mary Everette were active members of the Simpson Methodist Church and were well-known in the community for their singing. Okey J. Foster died December 10, 1971 at Summersville. His wife preceded him in death on April 1, 1962." -- Charlie Bob, b Aug 20, 1946; m Gloria Jean Sweet on Feb 18, 1967.
