Copied from The Post-Dispatch of 8 Jan 1969: "Ruth Brockman Dies; Active in Garden Groups Mrs. Ruth [Alice] Ellis Brockman, 68, long active in gardening organizations, died of a heart attack Tuesday, Jan. 7, 1969, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. William G. Bowman, 7249 Greenway ave., University City, with whom she lived. Mrs. Brockman and her late husband, Loren T. Brockman, were enthusiastic home gardeners. She aided in the restoration of Tower Grove House, home of the late Henry Shaw at Missouri Botanical (Shaw's Garden), was a member of Friends of the Garden and of the St. Louis Horticultural Society and past president of the Marguerite Krueger Conservation Club. Mrs. Brockman was active in the Missouri Federation of Women's Garden Clubs and for the last 10 years supervised the floral arrangements at Grace Methodist Church, 6199 Waterman bl. Mr. Brockman, who died in 1961, was a supervisory employee of the Bell Telephone Co. He also was active in many gardening organizations. In addition to her daughter, Mrs. Brockman is survived by a son, Dr. Ellis R. Brockman, Rock Hill, S.C. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Lupton Chapel, 7233 Delmar bl., University City, with burial at Mexico, Mo." 2. Ellis and James Payne Ellis of Laddonia, will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Lupton's Chapel in St. Louis. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in East Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Brockman, long active in gardening organizations, died of a heart attack Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. at the home of a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. William G.
