a. Note:   1. Copied from the 11 Feb 1965 Mexico Ledger: "Services Tomorrow For Mrs. Ellis Mrs. Frances Maybelle Ellis, 84, of Laddonia, Route 1, died at 11:25 a.m. yesterday at the Audrain Hospital. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Arnold funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Marvin Jones of Laddonia. Interment will be in East Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Daughter of Alfred H. and Melisa Shell Canterberry, Mrs. Ellis was born Aug. 24, 1879. She was educated in the Mexico schools and Hardin College, and is a past Democratic committeewoman. Mrs. Ellis was a member of the Olivet Methodist Church. On May 5, 1897, she was married to Octave F. Ellis, who died Sept. 12, 1960. A son, Arthur W. Ellis also preceded her in death. Survivors include [three] sons, J. Payne Ellis and Francis Ellis of Laddonia and Alfred Ellis of the home; and three daughters, Mrs. L.[D.] (Ruth) Brockman of St. Louis, Mrs. R.L. (Mildred) McDaniel of Sunray, Tex. and Mrs. George (Mary) Roda of Hayes, Kan. Fourteen grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren also survive."
