Ellis, who has resided in the farming community southeast of Laddonia for a number of years died Tuesday afternoon at four o'clock at Audrain Hospital after a lingering illness. He had suffered from the effects of diabetes for some years and had undergone amputation of both limbs (legs) in recent years. The son of Octave F. and Frances Canterbury Ellis, he was born near Thompson, Mo. on January 28th, 1898 and came to this community about 20 years ago where in 1937 he was married to Miss Essie Jackson, who survives. He also leaves three children of the home, Sandra, Sammy and Robert. Surviving also are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. O.F. Ellis of southeast of Laddonia; three brothers, Payne Ellis of Russell, Kansas, Francis Ellis of Laddonia and Alfred Ellis and three sisters, Mrs. Loren Brockman of St. Louis; Mrs. Rolla McDaniel of Dumas, Texas and Mrs. George Roda of Paradise, Kansas and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services conducted by the Rev. J.W. Maxwell will be held from the Wilkey-Bienhoff Funeral Home in Laddonia this Thursday afternoon at three o'clock with burial in Eastlawn Cemetery at Mexico." 2. Copied from the Mexico Evening Ledger, 6 Jun 1956: "Arthur Ellis Dies; Services Set at Laddonia Laddonia -- Funeral services for Arthur William Ellis, 58, a farmer southeast of Laddonia for about 20 years, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday the Wilkye-Beinhoff Funeral Home in Laddonia. Mr. Ellis died late Tuesday afternoon in the Audrain Hospital after several years of illness. The Rev. J.W. Maxwell, pastor of the Laddonia Baptist Church, will officiate at the services. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Mexico. The son of Octave and Frances Canterbury Ellis, Mr. Ellis was born Jan. 28, 1898 near Thompson. On Nov. 12, 1937, he married Miss Essie Jackson. Survivors include his wife; three children, Sandra, Sammy and Robert of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. O.F. Ellis of southeast of Laddonia; three sisters, Mrs. Loren Brockman of St. Louis, Mrs. Rolla McDaniel of Duman, Tex., and Mrs. George Roda of Paradise, Kan.; and three brothers, Payne Ellis of Russell, Kan., and Francis and Alfred Ellis of Laddonia. The family has requested that no flowers be sent, with donations instead to the Audrain County Heart Fund. The body will be at the funeral home until services."
