Copied from the 4 Jan 1923 issue of the Nicholas Chronicle: "Susan Miller, daughter of James R. and Virginia (Campbell) Miller, was born near Kesler's Cross Lanes, Nicholas county, W.Va., September 24, 1869. Being in poor health she went into a hospital at Huntington, W. Va., and underwnet an operation; she lived four days after the operation and died December 18, 1922, aged 53 years two months and 24 days. She was a lady of excellent character and lived a useful life. She professed saving faith in Christ and joined Zoar Baptist church in 1892. In her youth she prepared herself for teaching and taught for quite a number of years in the public schools of her native county. The remains were brought to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Hamilton, where funeral services were conducted by the writer, after which interment took place in the Miller graveyard, one mile east of Kesler's Cross Lanes. The deceased is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Andrew Hamilton of Cross Lanes, W.Va., And Mrs. W.H. Craig, of Huntington, W. VA., and one brother, James I. Miller, of Augusta, Florida."
