Copied from the Virginia Hamilton manuscript: "Jason Campbell says he has a book that his great grandfather, John Campbell, Sr., bought of a Baptist Preacher, Reverend Elder Josiah Osbourne, of Virginia City (now Alderson, West Virginia) in 1813. Title of book "History of the Rise and Progress of the Virginia Baptist" by Robert Stemple. It was published by John Lynch at Richmond, Virginia in 1810. The book is 129 years old and has been in the Campbell family 126 years. (In 1998, this book had been in the Campbell family for 185 years; handed down from John Campbell, Sr., to this son, John Davidson Campbell, from John Davidson Campbell to his son, Curtis Davidson Campbell, from Curtis Davidson Campbell to his son, Jason W. Campbell. Just think of it, four generations and ready for the fifth. It has now been passed from Jason W. Campbell to his son, Charles Colin Campbell and to his nephew, Robert Campbell of Valley City, OH). In the book it says Peters Creek Baptist Church was Constituted in 1803 by John Alderson. Josiah Osborne and E. Hughes with thirty-two members had twenty-five members in 1810 with E. Hughes then Pastor, in what was Kanawha County then. 2. Jason W.
