Notes
a. Note:   1. Robert Spotts was a Lieutenant in the C.S.A. and rode with General J.E.B. Stewart. He was killed in a battle at Winchester, VA in 1864. No grave for his has been located. His horse, Jule (a fine black mare with a white face), his sword and trappings were returned to the homestead at Cross Lanes by a Private Baker (who was going home to Twenty Mile Mountain). Jule was given to Mary Jane but Lycurgus Campbell never allowed Jule to be either worked or ridden and she live to an age of 32 years. 2. Have also seen his birth date as 20 Jul 1838.
