Note: 1. Lost his left leg 1 Jul 1868 due to an infection. The leg had been accidently cut with a scythe being used by his cousin, Walter E. Younger. 2. Was a school teacher for many years in eastern Boone co., MO near the Hickory Grove church. 3. On 6 Nov 1886 he was elected to the Office of Assessor for Audrain county, MO in a general election. 3. Was a rural mail carrier in 1910 in Yuma co., CO. 4. Copied from the 13 Sep 1883 issue of the Mexico Ledger: "J.Y. McLean and Miss Nannie Pulis of near Thompson Station were married last week. This highly esteemed young couple have a host of friends who join with the Ledger in wishing them a long and happy life."
