a. Note:   1. Died after having three children. See Cem. Nicholas county, WV, page 291. 2. There is no positive proof that Nellie was a daughter of Robert Foster; in fact, statements have been seen to suggest that her father was Isaac Foster, a brother to Robert. (a) The ancestor charts prepared by Wayne V. Masterson suggest that her father was Isaac Foster. (b) The above belief was also supported by Robert Campbell of Clearwater, FL. (c) Nancy Jensen of Aurora, CO prepared charts in 1993 which showed Nellie's father to have been Robert Foster, brother of Isaac. (d) On page 291, Cemeteries of Nicholas co. WV, there is a statement which suggests that her father was Robert Foster, brother of Isaac. (e) On page 43 of WVA History, Robert Foster was named as her father. But, this Robert Foster was described as being the father to William and Bedford Foster and that Robert was a cousin to Isaac Foster. No evidence of this cousin relationship has been seen in any of the papers or manuscripts studied for the Foster family. 3. Nellie was described as being the third wife of Thomas Hughes on page 14 of Ruth Williams Cornell's book, My Family Connections, IV, The Hughes.
