a. Note:   1. Copied from the Mexico Intelligencer of 7 Nov 1905: "ELLIS-FERNANDEZ. Mr. A. Pinkney Ellis, formerly of Audrain, but now living in Old Mexico, was married Nov. 1, 1905 to Miss Fernandez of San Luis, Potosi, Old Mexico. Miss Fernandez is a splendid musician and was a teacher of English at her home. Mr. Ellis, is a brother of Mrs. W.H. Wallace of this city, and is a civil engineer in Old Mexico. 2. Notes from Andrew H. Ellis, son of Abraham Pinckney Ellis: a. Believe that the Pinckney name came from the Darby family. b. Abraham Pinckney graduated as a Civil Engineer from the University of Missouri in 1890. He worked in Muskogee, OK for about five years as a surveyor. He was also a partner in a sheep ranch in Oklahoma. After this he went to Mexico. c. He helped install the tram system in Tampico, Mexico. He also helped build a railroad from Tampico to the resort at Miramer, Mexico. He worked for an English oil company; Atlantic Oil Company. d. He died in Tampico. He had appendicitis; this was also at the time of an influenza outbreak. Abraham probably died due to poor hospital care. e. Believe that he met Consuelo due to the fact that she taught Spanish to foreign workers. 3. Notes from Margaret (Peggy) Tart (granddaughter of Abraham P. Ellis): a. Abraham P. died as a result of peritonitis following an appendectomy. b. Life was not real easy for Consuelo when she brought her four children to St. Louis, MO. The children spoke only Spanish at this time. Consuelo purchased a boarding house and took in boarders and taught Spanish. c. Andrew H. Ellis told his daughter, Peggy, that he learned to speak English from the Irish kids whose families had settled in north St. Louis. He said that people used to wonder where he came from since he looked Jewish and spoke English with a Spanish/Irish accent. 4. Copied from the 19 Oct 1918 issue of The Tampico Tribune: "Deaths A.P. Ellis A.P. Ellis, assistant resident engineer of the Atlantic company, at Guayavalittos, who was operated on for apendicitis last Thursday, died at the American hospital, Saturday. The funeral took place Tuesday, under the auspices of Tampico Lodge No. 10, F. and A.M. interment being made in the new cemetary. Mr. Ellis was a civil engineer and had resided in the republic for about 20 years. He was engaged in the laying out and construction of the Tampico street railway system and was connected with a number of big construction jobs through out the oil fields. He leaves a wife and four children." 5. In 1997, a visit to the Cemeterio de la Trinidad was made by the father of Mr. Gelasio Salazar Anaya to locate the tombstone of Abraham Ellis. The tombstone, if one was ever there, was not found by Mr. Anaya's father and the gravesite where Abraham Ellis had been buried was now occupied by a person who was buried there in the 1970's.
