Note: 1. Copied from the Mexico Ledger of 15 Jun 1981: "Laddonia -- Francis Octave Ellis, Laddonia, 72, died today at his home. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Laddonia Baptist Church with the Rev. Gordon Curtner officiating assisted by the Rev. Marvin Jones. Burial will be in the Laddonia Cemetery. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Tuesday until time of the services at Bienhoff Funeral Home in Laddonia. Mr. Ellis was born March 18, 1909 north of Thompson to Octave Felix and Mabel Frances Canterbury Ellis. On June 2, 1935 at Stafford, Kan. he married Elsie Dyche. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis lived in Russell, Kans., where he managed a lumber company. The couple moved south of Laddonia in 1942 and Mr. Ellis farmed. The Ellis family moved to Laddonia in 1969 when he retired from farming and worked for MFA for the next 6 years. Mr. Ellis had been a member of IOOF 452 and was a member of the Laddonia Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife and one daughter, [Norma], of the home; two sons, William O. Ellis, Colorado Springs, Colo. and Robert Francis Ellis, Laddonia; a brother, Alfred Ellis, Fulton; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family requests that any memorials be made to the Laddonia Baptist Church." 2. Copied from the Mexico Ledger, 17 Jun 1981: "Ellis Rites Held Laddonia -- Funeral services for Francis O. Ellis, 72, of Laddonia, were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Laddonia Baptist Church. The Rev. Gordon Curtner, pastor, and the Rev. Marvin Jones, pastor of Friendship Baptist Church in Mexico, officiated. The organist was Mrs. Fred Naysmith, vocalists were Mrs. Naysmith and Leland Breneman, and the pianist was Mrs. Rodney Galloway. Burial was in the Laddonia Cemetery with the following as pallbearers: Kenneth Gore, J.B. Galloway, Gaither Berry, David Burdge, Leland Breneman and William Woolfolk. The Bienhoff Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements."
