a. Note:   1. From the Mexico Intelligencer of 2 Jan 1930: "MISS JENNIE ELLIS DIES ON HER BIRTHDAY Funeral for Well Known Audrain Woman Who Died Thursday at Fulton to Be Held Tomorrow. Miss Jennie Ellis, member of a prominent Audrain County family, died Thursday morning at the hospital in Fulton after an illness of several years. Miss Ellis, who was 74 years old, died on her birthday, having been born Jan. 2, 1855, on the Ellis farm north of Mexico, the daughter of John and Rebecca Ellis. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. W.H. Wallace of Mexico and Mrs. Lowry Smith of Moorewood, Okla., four brothers, Jeff Ellis, Ira Ellis and Nolan Ellis of Muskogee, Okla., and Octave Ellis of Skinner, this county, in addition to a number of nieces and nephews. Miss Ellis was a member of of the Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the McPherson Brothers Undertaking Parlors and Interment will be made at the Ellis family cemetery at Berea." 2. Copied from the 2 Jan 1930 issue of the Mexico Ledger: "MISS JENNIE ELLIS DIES ON 74TH BIRTHDAY Member of Pioneer Audrain County Family Passed Away After Extended Illness -- Services Here Friday. Miss Jennie Ellis, pioneer resident of Audrain County, died on her seventy-fourth birthday Thursday after an extended illness. She died Thursday morning at the Fulton Hospital. Miss Ellis, who was born on Jan. 2, 1856, was a daughter of John and Rebecca Ellis, and was born north of Mexico. She was a splendid Christian woman, who was widely and favorably known, embracing the Methodist faith. Two sisters, Mrs. W.H. Wallace of Mexico, and Mrs. Lowry Smith of Moorewood, Okla., three brothers, Ira and Jeff Ellis of Muskogee, Okla., and Octave Ellis, of near Molino, and a half brother, Nolan Ellis, of Muskogee, Okla., survive. She also leaves a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 o'clock Friday morning at the McPheeters Funeral Parlors, with interment at Berea Cemetery, north Audrain. Rev. F.C. Tucker will officiate. The Ledger joins friends in extending sincere sympathy to the bereaved at Miss Ellis' death." 3. Went to school at Fayette, MO in 1874. 4. Did she marry Alexander Roberson on 13 Feb 1881 in Monroe co., MO? IGI Batch M515872 as per David Higgins. 5. Wm. H. Wallace had been appointed her guardian by the court. (Copied from a letter found in her probate file in Audrain co., MO) State of Missouri County of Audrain I W.R. Rodes of the County of Callaway and State of Missouri being duly sworn on oath say that I am Superintendant of the State Lunatic assylum at Fulton Mo - I know Jennie Ellis - She is an inmate of the assylum & is insane - and wholly in capable of attending to her affairs - and further saith not - W.R. Rodes Supt Sworn to & subscribe before me this 20th day of July 1886. S.M. Edwards Judge of Probate 6. William H. Wallace, her brother-in-law, was appointed by the Probate Court of Audrain County to administer her estate in 1888. 7. Her death was due to being a diabetic and having a knee infection.
