a. Note:   1. Abstracted from the May, 1966 issue of The Oklahoma York Rite News, page 6: "John Hamilton White, Muskogee, died in a Muskogee hospital after an extended illness on April 12, 1966. He had been re-elected Grand Treasurer at the annual sessions held in Muskogee and although in the hospital at that time, it was reported that his condition was improved; therefore, it was a shock when word came of his death. John was born April 27, 1887 in Mexico, Missouri. He was raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason March 17, 1909 in Maynard, Iowa and when the family came to Muskogee he transferred his membership in 1911. John White was employed by Swift and Company in Natchez, Mississippi and after coming to Muskogee became an employee of the Atlas Supply Company which later became a branch of the Jones and Laughlin Supply Company, serving that Company for 35 years until his retirement. He was a veteran of World War I and was a member and post commander of the American Legion at Muskogee. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Muskogee. He is survived by his wife, Eula of the home; two sons, Jack and Charles; one daughter, Betty; two sisters, Mrs. Lena Beers and Miss Mary White and several grandchildren. He has left a host of friends and brethren who mourn his passing. Funeral services were held in the Masonic Temple Auditorium in Muskogee on Friday, April 15, 1966 which was attended by many grand and past grand officers of the Masonic Bodies of Oklahoma, and many friends and brethren. A Knight Templar escort was furnished by the Sir Knights of Muskogee Commandery No. 2, Knights Templar." 2. Copied from a Muskogee newspaper clipping of April, 1966: "John Hamilton White Services Are Friday Funeral services for John Hamilton White, 78, of 801 South 22nd, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Muskogee Masonic Temple with Reverend Stanley Jordan, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. White, a Master Mason for more that 50 years and prominent in state Masonic circles, died Tuesday night at Muskogee General Hospital after a lengthy illness. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery with Lescher Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers will include Jack Vaughn, Braziel Davis, M.V. McDonald, Ora Lamb, Dick Newkirk and Jack Walker. Honorary pallbearers will include members of Court 99, Royal Order of Jesters. A local resident since 1911, White was presented a 50-year emblem for lodge membership by the Grand Master in 1959 and was a life member of Lodge 28 since 1953. In 1964, White was elected Grand Treasurer of the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Oklahoma and was re-elected to that post at the annual meeting held here April 6. White was born April 21, 1887, in Mexico, Missouri. He was a book- keeper for Jones and Laughlin Supply Company for 35 years until his retirement. He was a veteran of World War One. Survivors include his wife, Eulala of the home; a daughter, Mrs. David (Betty) Swan of Tulsa; two sons, John (Jack) W. of Muskogee and Charles H. of Kenton, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. C.C.
