a. Note:   I checked the 1880 census and again found one and only one Nicholas Jackson who was born in Tennessee:
  1880 census, Grant and West Union Townships, Norton County, Kansas; roll T9-0391, page 387A
  Jackson, Nicholas, age 23, born in TN; parents born in TN; single; farmer. So he seems to have migrated from Tennessee to Iowa and finally to Oklahoma. When & where he married Mary is unknown, although it seems to have been after 1880, but before 1892, probably in either Iowa or Oklahoma.
