a. Note:   John came to Canada abt 1831 with his sister Ann Nelson and her family. St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Ottawa - John McAlmond, farmer, in the township of Nepean district of Bathurst and Jane Foster, spinster, were married by me on this second day of December Eighteen Hundred and thirty four. Signed John Cruikshank, minister and witnessed by Archy Foster and John Scott.
  1851 census Nepean Twp., Carleton Co. Ontario (film C11716 pg. 61) lists: McCamond, John (age 40) farmer; Jane (age 35); William 16; Thomas 14; John 12; Sarah Ann 11; Abraham 09; David 07; Joseph 04 and Mary 03. The family were living in a log house. Sarah, Abraham and David attending school.
  1864-70: McAmmond, John - Propietor Farmer's Hotel at 239 Wellington. The hotel was previously owned by the Farmer family.
  1871 - Dominion Directory lists: McAmmond, John - proprietor McAmmond's hotel, Wellington St. near Kent St.
  1871 - Census film C10013, Div. 1, pg. 5 - Victoria Ward, Ottawa - John McAmmond, age 65, Methodist, born in Ireland, occupation - innkeeper; Jane - 50; David - 24; May - 21; Joseph - 21. Two servants listed - Eliza Hopewell and Eliza Mitchell.
  1872, Oct. 7 - Nepean - John McAmmond sells south 1/2 lot N. Conc. A to John Scott 1872 - Ottawa Assessment Victoria Ward: Wellington St. N. Lot 8 - John McAmmond, freeholder - value $6,000. 1881 - John is listed as a boarder at 99 Sherwood, Ottawa along with David who owns a Boarding House.
  There seems to be no further reference made of John after 1881 and I have not been able to find any record of his death in Ontario.
