From "Harvest of Memories" - a history of the Grand Trunk and West Hillhurst areas of Calgary, Alberta - written by Rose (Marcellus) Kreway My grandfather (Bill) David William McAmmond was born April 20, 1875 at Nepean, County of Carleton, Ontario. His father's address was Lot 35, Can.A.R. Nepean. This was my Great-Grandfather, and his occupation was listed as a yeoman. My Grandmother Rose (Hanlon) McAmmond was born at Everett, Ontario. She married Grandpa McAmmond at Dunchurch, District of Parry Sound, Ontario, on March 18, 1896. They moved to Bremner, Alberta, where they homesteaded. Later they moved to Calgary, where they lived on the 2000 block on 4th Ave. N.W., Grandpa bought a farm at Sundre, Alberta in 1938. He then bought a team of mules and a wagon, which he used to move all their possessions to their farm. He drove across country, leaving on a Monday evening, sleeping under his wagon at night, and arrived at his farm on Thursday. This trip took four days by mule team, today we would drive those same miles in a hour or so by motor car. Grandma and Grandpa McAmmond had four sons, Foster, Evertt, Lambert and Henry. Four daughters Emma Marcellus, Mary Gregory, Grace Ramsdale and Janet McAmmond. Grandma McAmmond was deceased April 3, 1950. Grandpa McAmmond was deceased October 1, 1957.
Notes from "Cherished Memories" - a history of the Ardrossan area, east of Edmonton, Alberta pg. 627 - Mr. & Mrs. Wm. McCammand lived a mile north of the school (East Clover Bar). They had a family of four: Emma, Mary, Foster and Lambert, all of whom went to school when I (Martin Reynolds) did. pg. 699 - Pupils attending the East Clover Bar School in 1907 (teacher Miss Crow) - among those listed are: Emma, Foster and Lamber McAmmond.
