 3. As of the 1901 census, Mary is shown as the only head of household. Thomas does not appear in the census. They are at 246 Ainsworth Rd, Radcliffe. Same in 1891.
 4. In 1881 Census Thomas is head of household and they live at 360 Ainsworth Rd.
 5. Clwyd Parish Transcripts for Ruabon show the baptism of a Mary Ellen Roberts: 31st October 1847, parents John (c. merc - ? coal merchant) and Mary of Ruabon.

 7. Bill Eccleston information says born 1846 in Ruabon, Occ. servant.
 8. Marriage certificate has witnesses Sarah Ann Roberts and William Roberts. A look at the 1871 Census shows a William Roberts age 44, occupation carter - born Merionethshire, Wales - I think it was her father's brother and therefore her uncle. They live a door or two down from Mary Ellen's mother and stepfather and their family. However, a Sarah Ann Roberts appears in the 1871 census married to a William Roberts both born Monmouth, Wales ages 56 (her) 76 (him) and living in Monmouthshire.
 9. According to Bill Eccleston (per Gladys Chatburn), Mary Ellen visited the USA for her daughter Louisa's wedding. She became ill on the ship ride home and died shortly thereafter. She declared that she did not want to be buried in the same cemetary as her husband. When he was buried, there was a great deal of water in the hole into which the coffin was going to be placed. This apparently horrifed her and she requested she be buried in the municipal cemetery.
 10. Immigration record - June 1910 Ivernia age 62 Housekeeper - last residence daughter Mary Chatburn - from Liverpool to Boston.
 James ht 6 ft dark complexion, black hair and brown eyes; Louie 5' 5 1/2" dark complexion; black hair blue eyes; Mary Ellen fair complexion black hair brown eyes.
