Obituary; SERVICES PENDING FOR JAMES E.WOODS NEWKIRK--James E.Woods,65,pioneer Kay County resident, died at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday at Ponca City Hosepital. He had been hopitalized for the past three days. Funeral services are pending with the Hill-Stahl funderal Service of Newkirk in charge of arrangements. Woods came to the area at the age of 9 with his parents during the Cherokee Strip Run. The family located on a farm east of Kildare and he had lived in that community and around Ponca City all of his life. He was a mechanic for the Continental Oil Company for 24 years until he retired in March of 1949. He was making his home on the farm near Kildare at the time of his death, and was a member of the Kildare Methodist Church and the Ponca City Odd Fellows Lodge. Survivors include his wife,Mrs.Freda Woods and three step-children Vera,James and Donald, all of the home; two brothers, Robert of Esther- ville,Ia., and W.P. of Uncas; three sisters, Mrs Percy Speer of Comstock, Nebraska,Miss Olive Woods of Magnolia,Illnois, and Mrs. Leonard Fussell.
