a. Note:   INFO FM: Census, death, Military records, news papers(obits) and family records. Ode Cox was in the U.S. Army/ Natioal Guard, stationed Ft. Moultie, Charleston S.C., in Search Light Battery "G" of the 263rd Costal Artillery Battalion, from 3 Oct.1939 to 23 Jan. 1941, obtaining the rank of Sgt.
 (On January 9, 1941 the unit was called to active duty at Fort Moultrie by Gov. Burnet Maybank. The unit entered active federal service on 13 January 1941 and was given the mission of guarding Charleston Harbor. As the war went on, the 263rd Coastal Artillery provided individual replacements for other artillery units. The unit returned home and was deactivated in June of 1946. )
  Later he joined the Greenville S.C. sheriff's dept. and served with his brother Ed Cox, until the mid 1950's. He then took a job with the state of Indiana as a guard at the state prison in Michgan city, Ind.
 He is pictured in the Greenville paper after completing an FBI civil defense course.
  His first wife, Grace Pauline Grant Cox, died in Sept. 1960. On 01 Oct. 1963 he married Louise Short Cox, of Hindman Ky., who he meat in Ind.

 Ode Cox, 80, Michigan City, died yesterday,(13 Dec. 1983), at St. Anthony Hospital after a lengthy illness.
 The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Carlisle Funeral Home. The Rev. Bruce L. McNeely will officiate. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow and on Friday until the service.
 Acme Lodge No. 83, F. & A.M. will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. tomorrow in the funeral home.
 Mr. Cox was born Jan. 3, 1903, in Greenville, S.C., the son of Leonard and Minnie Pridmore Cox. He was a correctional officer at the Indiana State Prison and was retired with 15 years of service. On Oct. 1, 1963, in Hindman, Ky. he married Louise Short, who servives.
 Also surviving are a step-son, Jim Wright, Michigan City, three grandchildren, one step-grandchild, five great-grandchildren, a sister, Ethel Burry, of Taylors S.C. and several nieces and nephews. Three sons, four brothers, and a sister are deceased.
 Mr. Cox was a member of First Baptist Ch. He was U.S. Army veteran and a member of Monaghan Lodge No. 251, F. & A.M., South Bend Scottish Rite and the Hammond Orak Shrine. He was a 33rd. degree Mason.
