Note: Alice Hatcher Miloff says about her father Millard in her Family History Book, "In the early years when I was a young child, first in Schoolfield, Va, near Danville, then in Print Works (Cone Mills) in Greensboro, Dad worked in the mills (cotton mills), Mom also. I can remember trying to follow daddy to work. Dad also worked as a carpenter, laid floors for years when it was a real hard job. The old fashioned way bending over and nailing by hand. He also drove a taxi cab when I was a young child, and worked getting out timber. Daddy also loved to fish and spent many week ends fishing in the North Carolina coast." "Dad, Millard C. Hatcher, in his young years, was brought up in the Christian Church and I remember a real experience he received in the Free-Will Baptist church called "Cox's Chapel". While one's destiny depends on one's personal experience and faith, what gratitude we can feel for those in our preceding generations who have given a good example and thus imparted a desire in our hearts to follow the same God."
