Note: Lola ( Aunt Alice ) remembers the Welch Family reunions: Our Family Reunion was held over a few years every July - in honor of Grandmother Welch's birthday. It was held at aunt Minnie ( Welch ) Stewart's in VA, near Bristol, TN. From year to year we had such wonderful fun together, which made for wonderful memories. Such good food and we usually came home with at least one good new recipe. I don't remember a single time we did not have beautiful weather. It was great riding up the road to Aunt Minnies with tall corn growing on each side of the road, lovely country side and the expectation of seening all (our Kin _ and those who couldn't make it were surely missed. To see the growth of children from year to year, was very good, now we would not know some of our Kin, since we don't get together like we did then- It's a real loss both to grown ups and the children also. She says of her Family April 6, 1993 Our imediate family really depend on Thanksgiving and Christmas get togethers - now a days - We will usually now have thirty or more at our get togethers. And at Easter also - we've had egg hunts for the kids and let them color eggs - They enjoyed it very much especially the eggs we hid with candy & money inside - plastic eggs that came apart & fillable. When Lisa married, we had an out door wedding and the reception in a huge white tent set up out in the front for ceremony. Lisa arrived in a real coach drawn by horses. Mother and Ben were so handsome in white knickers & shirts - Lori and Mollie in dresses of lace. Alicia & I had identical dresses of lace. More notes From Alice Hatcher Miloffs heritage Book: "The Welch family so I understand came from Wales and they were singers and that bears true until today. When I was a little girl we lived quite a distance, What would be a city block or two and I could hear my grandfather (Church) outside singing hymns and down thru generations there are singers still today. That wonderful talent passed me by. There is also a natural talent for art my mother (Lizzie) and two of her sisters very talented. Lizzie, Lakie, and Lucy, all talented." More notes From Alice Hatcher Miloffs heritage Book on her Worship and personal relationship with God: "As a child, Mother took us to many different kinds of S.S. As a young child I remember the folks who came and held S.S. near us and they had wooden benches outside where we sat. Then I remember going to some sort of Holiness Church in Bristol, VA and tho a young child, being talked to about my spiritual welfare. Then I remember an Adventist Sabbath School in Bristol we attended a few times - A Methodist Church as I grew a little older which pleased great Aunt Connie Cawood, Uncle Toms wife as she was out of that persuasion. Then I remember going to the Christian Church which was the Hatchers choice (Grandmother, Uncle Dana and Jimmie, Shipley. I remember well the weekly pressing of Uncle Davis pants to have him presentable for Central Christian - Then after moving to NC as a teenager I was introduced to the Quaker's Friends Church and went for a while. This plus a visit here to the Baptist Church - were my first trying to respond to that great need we all have - It was here at the Friends Church as a young teenager God began seeking me thru others - We sat under a great Sunday school teacher here and later I really tried to respond to the efforts of others concerned about my spiritual welfare - But I at this time did not experience salvation - This came later in my life - after marrige I was saved in 1939 I believe at Alex, VA - King Street Assembly of God.
