Note: From the Albany Democrat Herald, Wednesday, October 24, 1945, page 2: "MRS. KATE VANDERPOOL, 97, DIES AT HER HOME. Mrs. Kate Vanderpool, 97 years, smonths and 28 days old, of 433 West 4th Street, Albany, died at her home Tuesday night following a brief illness. She was born Mar. 25, 1848 in the Palestine neighborhood of Benton County, and had lived all her life in Benton and Polk counties, except the last three years in Albany. Her parents were original pioneer settlers in Benton county, taking up a donation land claim in the Palestine neighborhood. She is survived by a daughter, Nettie Walker, of Alberta, Canada; a brother, Dr. A. J. Hodges, of Albany; a son, Clyde M. McClure, died in 1935. Four sisters and five brothers preceded her in death. She is survived also by nieces, Mrs. Iva Ingles of Seattle, and Mrs. Alma Stewart of Albany. Mrs. Vanderpool was a member of the Baptist church. Funeral services will be held from the Fisher funeral home at 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 26, with Rev. E. B. Luther officiating.
