Notes
a. Note:   In the 1870 Census for shelby county, TX, (Roll 1604 p. 135) Charles Cru mp 13, and born in LA, is in the household of William Lebo and Mary A. Leb o. William was only 23 years old and mary A. was 28, so she could not ha ve been the mother of charles who was 13 then. Mary Ann Lebo, wife of Char les L. Crump was 49 in the 1860 census, so it may be tht this William Le bo was a son by a previous marriage, or a younger brother, but pretty leea rly, this is the same Charles, son of Charles L. and Mary Ann Lebo. S o, it would appear that after Charles L. died (shortly after 1860), that M ary Ann Lebo Crump must have died before 1870 as well. William Lebo and wi fe Mary A. had three small children William H. 3, John 2, and Samuel 1. Th ey were all born in texas. William himself was born in Louisiana, probab ly Sabine Parish; Mary A. was born in Tennessee.
Based on all other research on this family, this should be C. H. Crump. Ho wev er, his tombstone at Beulah Methodist Cemetery between Marthaville a nd Ajax clearly says "Charlie A.", as he is remembered by his grandchildre n. His wife is buried next to him and she is recorded as Nannie F. Clear ly this is Nancy L. Free Crump, and that there is an error for some unkno wn reason, in the tombstone of this Charlie/Charley. It is apparent taht t he tombstone (a modern doublemarker type) was placed there sometime aft er the death of Nannie in 1957, which may account for the error.
