Note: Born near Paint Lick, Garrard Co., Ky. Paternal gparents immigrated from Germany to Wisconsin. Any siblings of father unkown. Mother was Mary Noaks, presumably born in Garrard Co. of Aaron Noaks and Rachel Griffin. Father, Edward Koehler presumably born in Wisconsin of Ludwig Koehler and Henrietta ________. Came to Ky. where met and married Mary Noaks. Moved to East Bernstadt, Ky. in childhood where father operated sawmills, apparently successfully. Louise had two siblings, Willy, who died in adolescence, and Leslie. She moved from East Bernstadt after her mother's death and father's remarriage to Martha _____, to Louisville, Ky. at around age 18. Apparently she had met future hus- band Carl before leaving E. Bernstadt. She worked as a clerk at a hardware store and lived with Vincent and Rebecca Farris, who had roots in Laurel Co. Rebecca was her paternal aunt. She married Carl in Jeffersonville, Ind. and they continued to live in Louisville. Carl was a fireman for the L&N RR and was later transferred and they lived in Nashville, TN and Harriman, TN Carl lost job on L&N presumably because of support of union and went to work as salesman for hardware firms, which occupied the bulk of his career.
