Note: Owen graduated from Washburn University, Topeka, Shawnee County, Kansas, in May 2007 with a degree in History.
Obituary: Owen Wade Buchanan, 38 of the Williamstown Community near Perry, passed away Monday, Feburary 20, 2012 at his parent's home after a long battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Owen was born July 18, 1973 at Lawrence Kansas, the son of Edward L. and Donna L. Alford Buchanan. He was a 1991 graduate of Perry- Lecompton High School. He earned an Associates degree from Highland Community College and earned his Bachelors degree from Washburn University. He was in the process of working towards his Masters degree when he became ill. Owen worked most of his adult life in retail management. Owen enjoyed many outdoor activites, including fishing, camping, hiking and particularly gardening. He had a passion for books, both reading and collecting and owned enough to have his own personal library. He was a member of the Friends of the Lawrence Public Library, and was a dedicated supporter of 4-H, National Public Radio, and Public Television. He is survived by his daughter, Samantha Buchanan, Grantville, parents Ed and Donna Buchanan, Grantville, grandfather, Don Buchanan, Lawrence, and his beloved Chelsea, numerous aunts, uncles,, and cousins. Services will be at 10:00AM, Saturday at the Perry United Methodist Church. Burial will be at the Oak Ridge Cemetery, Perry.
