a. Note:   is wife, because of this there is some question that Mary was the mother of George's children. Usually if the widow is the mother, it is specified which child (usually a son) is to care for her during her natural life or as long as she remains a widow. There is a Betsy McDannald signing with George on some land transactions prior to 1810. She may have been the first wife. Fleming Co., KY Wills & Estates Vol. 1-2, 1798 -1843; Will Book A, page 365;
  I told you I would let you know if I found someone to test. This is let you know that a George McDannold descendant has DNA tested, and he matches Mordicai McDonald. We still don't know how closely, but it is likely they were if not brothers than first cousins. It also means that since one of our matches has proof that his ancestor came from Barvas, Isle of Lewis, Scotland, then that is very likely where your George came from also. The man who tested is descended from George's son Peter. This is very exciting. It is so wonderful to finally be able to connect the two families!
