Note: OBITUARY - Mr Henry Mahon The death occurred at his residence, Allan's Flat of Mr Henry Mahon on Sunday, September 27. Deceased had not been in the best of health for the past five years, and took a stroke a week before his death. Deceased, who was 77 years of age, was born at Yackandandah, and was the son of Mr and Mrs James Mahon, old and highly respected residents of the Yackandandah district. Most of his work was carried out in the Kiewa Valley. He lived all his life in the district, and took a great interest in sport, playing both cricket and football for the Osborne's Flat teams in his younger days. In 1902 he married Emma Rickard at Beechworth, and had just recently celebrated the anniversary of their Golden Wedding. Left to mourn their loss are his wife and family of six - James (Osborne's Flat), Joseph (Allan's Flat), Kathleen (Mrs Knell, Malvern), Alma (Mrs O'Sullivan, Malvern), Flo (Mrs Goonan, Yackandandah) and ten grandchildren. One sister, Kate (Mrs Lambourn of Wodonga) survives him. One brother, Mark, and three sisters, Hanora (Mrs Glyn of Wagga), Mary (Mrs Grealey, Eldorado) and Bridget (Osborne's Flat) predeceased him. The remains were taken to the Roman Catholic Church, Yackandandah, and after a short service on September 29, the funeral, which was a large one, took place at the Yackandandah Cemetery, where the burial services were read by Father Ryan of Beechworth, who also conducted the service at the church. The coffin was carried by Messrs. J. Mahon (son), F. Goonan (son-in-law), F. Grealey and J. Crothers (nephews) and M. Mahon and K. Drummond (grandsons). Mr A.E. Hill had charge of the mortuary arrangements.
