a. Note:   OBITUARY - MRS EMMA MAHON Mrs Emma Mahon, a well known resident of Yackandandah and district, passed away on Thursday, September 5, as a result of coronary occlusion. Deceased, who was aged 80 years, was born in Yackandandah, and was the daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Joseph Rickard, of Allan's Flat. She married the late Mr Henry Mahon in 1902 and leaves to mourn their loss three sons, James (Osborne's Flat), Ernest (Ballarat), Joseph (Yackandandah), and three daughters, Kathleen (Mrs Knell, Malvern), Alma (Mrs O'Sullivan, Malvern) and Florence (Mrs Goonan, Beechworth) also two brothers and three sisters, Ernest (Yackandandah). Charles (Tallangatta), Elizabeth (Mrs Mains, Glenhuntly), Florence (Mrs Andrews, Mentone) and Alice (Mrs Crothers, Tallangatta). She also leaves 15 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband 11 years ago. Deceased, who was very active despite her years, did her own housework and gardening and loved her euchre games in Yackandandah. Until two years ago deceased lived at Allan's Flat. The funeral took place on Saturday and her remains were laid to rest in the Catholic portion of the Yackandandah Cemetery after Requim Mass by Rev. Fr. O'Reilly, and served by her two grandsons, Peter and Dennis Goonan. The casket was borne by Messrs. H. Knell, P. O'Sullivan, F. Goonan (sons-in-law), R. Mains (nephew), M. Mahon and B. Mahon (grandsons). Funeral arrangements were in the hands of Mr W. Newton.
